All units on the board have three main attributes: Attack (ATK
), Defence (DEF
) and Luck (LCK
).
LCK
is only relevant in combat for the exceptionally rare critical hits, but it also affects https://twopm.slab.com/posts/unit-traits-o4vyjuhp .

⚠️ To defeat another unit in SoTF it must receive more Damage (DMG
) than it has DEF
.
</aside>
DMG
is typically dealt during the Attack Phase
(see Turn Lifecycle ) before the end of the turn. Most Units (like the The Merk) will attack adjacent enemies on all 4 sides, dealing their ATK
attribute's worth of DMG
.
If a units receives DMG
from more than one attacker, the DMG
stacks and if the total DMG
exceeds the unit's DEF
, it will die.
The exception here is The Bard who can swap places with another friendly unit just before dying.
SoTF is inspired by both Chess and Tafl Games where the way to "take" a piece from the opponent is to "flank it" with two of your own pieces. Given the ATK
and DEF
values you will see from most units, it's usually impossible to take a unit down 1 v 1
.
We intend the core strategy of SoTF to be creating board states where you can force enemy units into a position where two (or more!) of your units can target it.
In practice, this means that you will need to learn the behaviours of ‣ and begin to predict and plan around them.
